Practical Information

The meeting will be held at in the Lundsgaard Auditorium at the Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen, Blegdamsvej 3b (marked on the MAP). This is the main entrance of the Institute; there will be signs to guide you to the meeting from there. A map of the area, including the Niels Bohr Institute and the venue for the conference dinner at Blegdamsvej 23, can be seen HERE.

On-line advice on getting around in Copenhagen is available at Rejseplanen.dk. Choose English (UK), then enter your point of departure and your destination. E.g., from the airport (Kastrup) to the meeting venue:
From: Kastrup - choose 'Kastrup st. (metro)'
To: Blegdamsvej - choose 'Blegdamsvej/Tagensvej'

The easiest way to get from the airport to the centre of Copenhagen is by the Metro. As you leave the baggage claim and customs control, proceed straight ahead until you hit the railway ticket office (DSB). You can get a weekly pass to metro and buses in central Copenhagen, or you can get a (blue) strip card for 10 trips between two tariff zones (which covers most local needs). There are also ticket vending machines that accept standard credit cards. After buying your ticket(s), proceed in the same direction, then upstairs and past the Hilton Hotel, and you get directly into the Metro end station (i.e. all trains go to central Copenhagen). Punch your strip card in the yellow machines provided in all stations and on the buses; from the airport station you must punch it twice. Normally, attendants are on duty to help you with any problems.

If you want to go directly to the welcome reception on Sunday or to the meeting venue, exit the Metro at Nørreport Station. The main building of Copenhagen University at Frue Plads is just a short walk away, right next to the Cathedral (see map of the area HERE); to the meeting venue it takes about 15-20 min. However, the buses 6A, 42, 43, 150, 184, and 185 all pass the venue (stop: Blegdamsvej or Rigshospitalet). Just show the strip card you just used at the Metro to the bus driver, and she will only charge a smile to let you on board ;-)

If you prefer to take a taxi from the airport to your hotel, take the exit from the arrival hall to your right immediately after leaving customs control; the taxi stand is right outside. Taxis are metered, so you don't need to bargain seriously, but different companies may charge somewhat different rates. A typical taxi ride from the airport to central Copenhagen will cost 200-250 DKK, to the meeting venue a bit more.
